The Group

The Experimental Epidemiology group is part of the Institute of Integrative Biology (IBZ) since August 2020. We are funded by a Swiss National Science Foundation Eccellenza Professorial Fellowship and a Starting grant from the European Research Council.

We are interested in the factors that promote, or on the contrary prevent disease spread in groups of animals, with a focus on the role of social interactions. Our research combines laboratory experiments with live ant colonies, computational analyses of behaviour (video-based automated behavioral tracking), molecular approaches, and collaborations with theoretical biologists and chemical ecologists.
